An update on efforts to bring potable water to the Woodlawn Industrial Park will highlight the July meeting of the Marshall Economic Development Corp. board of directors Thursday.
The meeting, usually on the last Tuesday of each month, was moved up so that Cliff Todd, executive director, can be present. Todd tendered his resignation as MEDCO director at the June meeting, explaining that he had accepted a position with a local industry.
Todd has been at the forefront of efforts to bring water to the park, north of Marshall along U.S. Highway 59.
"Currently, some of these industries have to bring in bottled water for their employees to have drinking water," Todd told board members recently.
The MEDCO board has been negotiating with Leigh Water Supply Corp. of Karnack on the project, which has an estimated price tag of $200,000.
In other business, the board will consider approval of employee compensation relating to salary adjustments and travel allowance as the budgeting process for fiscal 2009 begins.
The board will meet in executive session beginning at 2 p.m. with the open session to begin at 4 p.m.
