Career and Technology Association of Texas Area 3 Meeting and Awards Presentation

On September 17, 2024, Marshall Economic Development was presented with the ACTE Champion for Career and Technology Education Award by the Education Service Center Region 7 in Kilgore, Texas. The award was accepted by MED’s Executive Director, Rush Harris, CEcD, who commented to the regional gathering of education staff, faculty, and counselors, “Workforce development is our priority. Economic Development does not happen in silos. You all are economic developers and play a huge role in moving our region and workforce forward.” Charlotte Leon (MISD CTE Director) presented the award and noted several of the different ways that Marshall EDC has championed MISD CTE: The Student of the Month program, the monthly WE-Align Meetings, The Summit and Student Leadership Forum, and sponsoring 5 MISD CTE teachers to attend Skills USA.
ACTE is the Association for Career and Technical Education and is the nation’s largest not-for-profit association committed to the advancement of education that prepares youth and adults for successful careers. ACTE’s Champion for CTE Award was created to recognize education leaders, business and industry executives, celebrities, and thought leaders who support and champion CTE programs as a vital part of developing a prepared, adaptable, and competitive workforce.
There were 2 CTAT Area Image awards given to Marcus Hooper at Eastman and Kim Stacy at East Texas Workforce.. Kim Stacy (with East Texas Workforce) said "Education is the cornerstone of Economic Development".
